Wireless Sensor Networks
Students will be able to explain the essential requirements and unique challenges of wireless ad hoc networking. They will be able to identify and explain differences in classical wired networks. Given specific application requirements, students will be able to design simple examples of wireless sensor network systems and construct and evaluate these systems. In particular, students will be able to select existing routing and data dissemination strategies and adapt or extend them to suit specific scenarios. They will describe state-of-the-art wireless sensor network research and seminal research cases.
Using the acquired methods, students will independently analyse new literature in subdomains that are not covered in the lectures. They will explain fundamental concepts of security and privacy protection in WSNs, select appropriate protection mechanisms, and integrate them in system architectures.

Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree
The online part of the study programme takes place in self-study and in the form of group work. For the self-study part of the programme, video lectures with detailed information about the contents and an elaborated script are offered. The script has been developed especially for extra-occupational learners in regard to the didactic concept of Ulm University. It contains breaks for independent study, multiple and single choice tests, quizzes, exercises, etc.
Your mentor will offer online seminars in periodic intervals. These seminars will help you to handle the exercises and work on the learning topics.
An online forum for exchange with the other students will also be available.
